Dear faculty members:

Thank you for your interest in our survey on the „Open Resources Campus NRW“ (ORCA.nrw). ORCA.nrw is North Rhine-Westphalia's state portal for teaching and learning in higher education. We support 36 state universities and are financed by the Ministry of Culture and Science.

Since September 2021, we supply faculty members and students with free educational resources, organize events and networking opportunities for faculty who teach online and provide students with digital services to support them at the outset of and during their studies.

The following survey serves to determine how well ORCA.nrw is known among the faculty at universities in North Rhine-Westphalia, to get a better grasp of the needs and wants of you as a faculty member with regard to ORCA's services, to note in how far you use our services and, if so, how you rate their quality. Your participation in the survey will take approximately 10 minutes. Your participation is of great value to us, independent of whether you know ORCA.nrw or not.

The survey is voluntary, of course. In order to be able to contextualize the results, we would like to ask you to indicate your type of appointment, institutional affiliation, academic discipline as well as your gender at the end of the survey. The data are collected exclusively for use by members of the team at ORCA's main office for the above-mentioned purposes. Your data will not be transmitted to third parties. The survey responses may be combined for analytical purposes (aggregation). These analyses and their aggregations may be transmitted by us to committees within and universities that are members of the Kooperationsgemeinschaft Digitale Hochschule NRW (DH.NRW). They will not contain any information on individuals nor will they permit the identification of individual persons. The legal basis for collecting the data is Article 6(1)(a) GDPR.

Data Erasure and Storage Duration

Your personal data will be erased as soon as they are no longer required to fulfil the purpose for gathering the data, provided the continued storage is not in breach of any statutory storage obligations.

Your Rights

You have the following rights vis-á-vis the responsible party with regard to your personal data:

Right to withdraw your declaration of consent on data protection

You also have the right to withdraw your declaration of consent on data protection at any time. Such a withdrawal affects the lawfulness of processing your personal data after you have declared it to us. The lawfulness of processing your data until the time of your withdrawal remains unaffected.

Right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority


If you consider that the processing of personal data relating to you infringes data protection law, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR i.V.m. § 19 BDSG and § 29 DSG NRW).
